    • The x-translation is a function of the wear track diameter related by the equation [diameter = pi * x^2], and will affect the rpm and torque of the motor.

    • The table of allowed loads at various wear track diameter is as shown.

    • Larger wear track diameter results in a higher torque required by the motor but also a lower rpm required to achieve the same linear speed.

    • Wear rates of the disk counterface could be reduced by having a larger wear track diameter.

    • In the event of resonance (loud and vibrations) being observed, the wear track diameter could be changed so that the rpm of the motor would be altered to maintain the same linear speed but yet avoid the natural frequency of the tribometer.
