Introduction

Often, rotary equipments do not work properly due to misalignment issues between the shafts. This guide provides users with basic understanding on the alignment of coupling and shafts of the wear tester

Parts

No parts specified.

  1. Check for coupling misalignment
    • Check for coupling misalignment

    • Parallel offset - notice that the coupling top and bottom piece do not share the same axis of rotation

  2. Using s6 Allen key, loosen the 4 M8 hex screw
    • Using s6 Allen key, loosen the 4 M8 hex screw

  3. Remove all 4 loosened M8 hex screws Be careful not to hit the load cell unnecessarily, as this will affect the accuracy of the device.

    • Adjust and align the two front teeth together by adjusting the lubricant tray as highlighted.

  5. Notice that the left back of the top hub is currently slanted to the right Hence, we need to tighten the upper left screw to tilt the angle back and make the coupling more aligned.
    • Notice that the left back of the top hub is currently slanted to the right

    • Hence, we need to tighten the upper left screw to tilt the angle back and make the coupling more aligned.

    • Next, tighten the corresponding diagonal screw slightly

    • Then, move on to the top right screw and tighten slightly

    • Lastly, tighten the bottom left screw slightly.

    • Finally, hand tighten all 4 screws in the same order as above (green, yellow, blue, orange)

    • Perform all tightening of hex screws while noticing and ensuring the alignment of the top and bottom hubs

  6. Once both hubs are well aligned, loosen the bottom hub. Slot in the middle piece Join all three parts together and tighten the hex screw on the bottom coupling
